Our resistance to change

Life is constantly evolving, and it destroys outdated forms and structures thus giving room for the new.
When we accept that change is an essential part of life, and therefore inevitable, we are able to grow and advance. Otherwise, if we are unwilling to follow the natural course of life, and we resisted for fear of losing control, we get stuck and sick.
Many people do not want to abandon their fixed ideas, and as a result, change becomes something that is feared to be opposed. Most afraid of losing their personal identities, social position, wealth or power, age, image, physical structures, sexuality, sexy, etc. If the identity, what you think you are, is associated with external identifiers, change becomes something that arouses fear.
Our earthly life is always subject to change, as well as continuing deaths and births, and this can lead us to realize that our spiritual essence is the only one who has never born and never dies. Without change, there is no way to discover who we really are and what is permanent in us.
If we focus purely on the outside world (the reality of aging, loss of work, personal power and financial success), it can consume much of our energy. If we focusing on the spirit, we can not grow personally. Failure to satisfy the demands of worldly life, remain immature, unable to stand on our own or develop personal wisdom granted by the maturity and life experiences.
What many do not realize is that both the internal focus and external reality can merge to shape a developed spirit and a strong and flexible ego. We can learn to cope with change in the outside world and at the same time, to base our identity in our spirit. This is the middle path.
